Michael Cerne has left his position as executive director of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), a source at ASMI told Undercurrent News on Tuesday.

Cerne’s last day was Friday. ASMI’s previous executive director, Ray Riutta, has returned to fill the role as interim executive director. The board is thought to be searching for a replacement after Cerne’s resignation filing days ago, another source with ASMI told Undercurrent.

Cerne served in the role since January of 2013, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before that he was owner of Marine Affairs Consulting, where he worked for almost four years after a 27-year career as a commissioned officer for the US Coast Guard.

Undercurrent was not able to reach Cerne for comment as the publication of this article.
