The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Fishing Families photo contest. Malerie Gunderson of Sand Point, Alaska will take home the grand prize of two round-trip tickets on Alaska Airlines with her artistic photo of a fish eye. The photo received over 2,200 votes from a Facebook gallery of finalists during a two-week voting period following the close of the contest.

In addition to the grand prize, ASMI is awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes in the following categories. All winning photos can be viewed online at

 1st prize winners will receive an Apple iPad, 2nd prize winners will receive an ASMI dry duffle bag, and 3rd prize winners will receive an ASMI sweatshirt.

 The photo entry period was open from October 21 to November 30, 2014 and received over 900 entries – the largest number of submissions ASMI has received for a photo contest.  ASMI uses these photos in a variety of marketing campaigns around the globe to highlight the rugged beauty of Alaska’s iconic fisheries and, more importantly, the generations of men and women who make their living from the seas.
