Environmental groups want the Obama administration to designate the Aleutian Islands as a national marine sanctuary.

 It would include Bristol Bay and the Bering Sea shelf, where some of the nation’s most important commercial fisheries occur.

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility is spearheading the proposal, along with the Center for Biological Diversity and five other groups.   Read more here
