SOUTHEAST ALASKA WINTER TROLL FISHERY CLOSURE

Sitka . . . The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced the following information concerning the winter troll fishery:

The commercial winter troll fishery will close at 11:59 p.m. (midnight) on Tuesday, March 8, according to the winter troll management plan [5 AAC 29.080(a)]. The department estimates that the upper end of the guideline harvest range of 43,000 to 47,000 non-Alaska hatchery-produced Chinook salmon plus the number of Alaska hatchery-produced Chinook salmon will be reached when all harvest has been accounted for. Fish tickets must be submitted to the department within seven days of landing [5 AAC 29.070 (a)(1)]. All fish harvested must be offloaded prior to participating in the spring troll fisheries.
