LONDON (Alliance News) – AquaBounty Technologies, Inc. on Monday said it has been cleared to produce salmon eggs in Canada for commercial purposes after the country’s environment agency decided the company’s AquaAdvantage system doesn’t harm the environment or human health.
“Our eggs and fish will not be available for sale until they are approved by the relevant national regulatory bodies. When these approvals are in place, we look forward to demonstrating the value of (AquaAdvatange Salmon) for a land-based and environmentally-sustainable production system,” Chief Executive Ron Stotish said.
AquaBounty shares were up 19% at 47 pence early Monday, one of the biggest gains on the London market.
