This is fish radio. I’m Stephanie Mangini.  Calendar contest captures 12 months of Pacific Coast commercial fisheries. Fishermen’s photos are needed. I’ll tell you more after this…
Alaskan Quota & Permits in Petersburg works hard for fishermen so they can do what they do best  – fish!  Visit www.alaskabroker.com

Take the UFA Salmon Survey and share what you know about your local fisheries. Find it at United Fishermen of Alaska’s home page and help guide the SHIP.
There are only a few days left to submit fishing photos for the 2017 Fishermen’s News Calendar. 12 winning photos will be chosen to highlight the west coast fishing industry month to month. Fishermen’s News is the oldest fishing publication and has been the voice of the commercial fishing industry since 1945. This will be the seventh year they have produced the calendar, it is a gift they love giving to their subscribers year after year.4405-fncalpromo_onlineTEMP226x9999-7362
“We get hundreds of photos. It is a huge project, but it has been fun to do because all of our readers love it; it is our favorite thing that they get to use all year.”
Bill Forslund is the Advertising Sales Manager for Fishermen’s News.
“The unique thing about our calendar is that it is populated with pictures that are sent in by our subscriber, our readers the fishermen on the west coast.”
F.N. is looking for pictures that capture any part of the commercial fishing industry in the Pacific coast.
“It is neat. We have used pictures from Hawaii and all over the West coast and Alaska. We look at everything. Beauty shots to action shots to shots of people even, we are open to anything.”
They are asking for high quality, high resolution, horizontally laid out photos.
“It is hard to narrow down the pictures because we get so many great pictures. It is difficult but we do it every year. We look forward to it, and every year in September we narrow down all the photos and the winners.”
The best twelve photos will be used for next year’s calendar. Photo credits are given to the photographer, along with a few prizes.
“The winners receive $150, 25 calendars to share with family and friends over the holidays, they also get bragging rights at the bar because there picture was in Fishermen’s News calendar; and a year subscription to Fishermen’s News magazine.”
Fishermen’s News readers  get a calendar with their subscription.
“We send it to every subscriber with the November issue, and we hand out over a 1,000 copies of the calendar to people that attend the Pacific Marine Expo.”
The photo deadline is this Friday August 26, send commercial fishing photos tobill@philipspublishing.com
